Art Hanging info.
Whether you have done this before or this is your first time, I ask that you read this. There have been changes to the process.
The Metal Rods used to hang the art are expensive so be VERY Careful when you touch them. Do not pull on them. They will bend and warp very easily.
At 6pm we will start the Pre-Hanging and organizing of the show.
You should come to the gallery at 6pm if:
-
This is your first time showing or hanging an art show.
-
Your art does not have a wire on it. For $5 per piece you may use the gallery’s tools and supplies.
-
If you have not filled out a contract or paid your entry fee, you need to do so before 7pm.
-
You are not able to stay and help hang the show.
Here’s how the process will work:
From 6-7pm:
Artists will stack and lean their art against the pillars in the gallery or in the hallways.
Do not lean art against the walls within the gallery space.
If you have 3D art, you will place them on the tables.
The following information is for art to be hung in the lockable areas.
Around 7pm.
Each artist may set ONE piece of art against the wall where they would like it to hang. Placing it does not mean that is where it will hang. There are no DIBS. Placing it there is only a request.
If the artist has paid the $20 participation fee you may set TWO pieces along the wall.
Around 7:30pm We will hang the 1 (or 2) pieces of art on the walls. This will be the 1st round.
Once all of the art from the 1st round is hung, we will prepare of the 2nd round. Everyone can place their second piece of art against the wall where they would like it to be hung. (If the artist has paid a $20 participation fee, they may place their 3rd & 4th piece of art along the wall).
Around 8pm We will then start the 2nd round of hanging.
If there is space left to hang more art, we will then hang the 3rd piece art (or 5th for those that paid $20).
Around 8:30pm, The remaining pieces of art will be hung in the NON Lockable hanging areas.
This whole process could take 2-3 hours.
3/14 Update: This is a reminder that if you are not able to help hang the show on the drop off date (Tuesday March 24), then you can drop off your art on Saturday March 21st Noon-6pm. There is a $10 fee for not helping hang the show.
